Abstract:

Objective To develop the virtual reality training project for care of patients with pressure injury and to explore its application effects. Methods Based on the advantages of internet and virtual reality technology, the virtual reality training project for care of pressure injury was constructed, which included three modules:theory learning, skill training and comprehensive application. The project was applied in Fundamentals of Nursing for 58 undergraduates of 2018 in our university. The self-designed questionnaire was used to examine the students’ evaluation of the project. Data obtained from the platform were analyzed to know the project usage and students’ examination performance. Results 94.8% of the students showed great interests in the virtual reality learning and all of them considered that this project was very helpful. 96.6% of the students were willing to go to the website to re-learn the relevant knowledge. Data analysis showed that the correct rate of students’ answers was rising with 68.2% at first,92.6% at the second time and 100% at the third time. So far, learners from 19 provinces, cities and autonomous regions have visited our website and studied the project with up to 6 410 times. Conclusion Virtual reality training project is conductive to stimulate students’ self-learning interest and improve the learning effects. It can help students to master the relevant knowledge and skills of care of the pressure injury. This project provides an effective training platform for sharing of high quality teaching resources.
