Objective To understand the structure and enrollment of doctoral supervisors of first-level nursing disciplines in China, and to provide reference for the development of nursing disciplines. Methods The information of nursing doctoral supervisors in 24 sample universities in 2021 was collected and sorted out. Descriptive statistical method was used to analyze the number, structure, distribution, enrollment number and enrollment direction of nursing doctoral supervisors. Results There are 120 nursing supervisors in the sample colleges, 108 PhD students are enrolled, with an average enrollment of less than one student per teacher. The majority of doctoral supervisors were female(77.5%), aged 50-59 years old(60.0%), mainly with senior professional titles(95.0%), and doctoral degrees(76.7%). The distribution and enrollment of tutors were mainly concentrated in the eastern region, double first-class colleges and universities, comprehensive colleges and universities with subject level B, and enrollment was concentrated in 25 professional directions. Conclusion The number of nursing doctoral programs is small, the number of existing doctoral supervisors is insufficient, the structure is unreasonable, the distribution is unbalanced, and the enrollment direction is not standardized. The above problems can be improved by increasing the authorization points, strengthening the construction of the contingent of tutors, rationally allocating the tutor resources, optimizing the tutor structure, and clarifying the direction of secondary nursing disciplines.

Objective To understand and describe the process of caregivers’ involvement in the self-care of stroke survivors, and to provide references for developing more targeted stroke survivor and caregiver dyadic self-care intervention programs. Methods A descriptive research method was used and the research team conducted semi-structured interviews with 16 stroke caregivers from October 2021 to December 2021. The data were analyzed by directional content analysis. Results Three themes were extracted:1) helplessness of caregivers in participating in patient self-care and maintenance; 2) caregivers’ indifference in participating in patient self-care monitoring; and 3) benefits of caregivers in participating in patient self-care management. Conclusion While caregivers make significant contributions to promoting patient self-care maintenance, monitoring, and management, they also encounter numerous obstacles and are in urgent need of external support. Future research should focus on understanding the facilitators and barriers perceived by stroke caregivers in their involvement in the self-care process. Furthermore, targeted dyadic self-care interventions for patients and caregivers should be developed to promote favorable health outcomes for both parties.

Objective To explore the status of learned helplessness in breast cancer patients and analyze its influencing factors. Methods From December 2021 to August 2022, 303 patients with breast cancer who were admitted to a tertiary A-level cancer hospital in Guangdong Province were selected as the subjects for investigation, and were assessed with the general information questionnaire, Learned Helplessness Scale(LHS), General Self-Efficacy Scale(GSES), and Social Support Rating Scale(SSRS). Results The score of learned helplessness in 303 breast cancer patients was(62.30±9.92). Family monthly income ( β=-0.217), clinical staging ( β=0.119), breast-conserving surgery( β=0.269), self-efficacy( β=-0.260), and total social support score( β=-0.294) were the main influencing factors of learned helplessness, which could predict 53.4% of the total variation. Conclusion The level of learned helplessness in breast cancer patients is relatively high. Clinical nursing staffs should pay attention to evaluating the level of learned helplessness of patients, focusing on patients with low family monthly income, mastectomy and advanced clinical staging, and developing strategies to enhance patients’ self-efficacy and social support, thereby reducing their level of learned helplessness.
