Abstract:

Objective To investigate the current status of areas of worklife and work engagement of pediatric nurses in Zhuzhou, and to explore the correlation between them. Methods The convenience sampling method was used to recruit pediatric nurses from 6 secondary hospitals and 6 tertiary hospitals in Zhuzhou to conduct a questionnaire survey by general data questionnaire,Areas of Worklife Scale(AWS) and the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale(UWES). Results The total mean score of AWS was(3.33±0.50) and the total mean score of UWES was(3.16±0.99). There was a significant positive correlation between the total score of AWS and UWES(r=0.720,P<0.05). Conclusion Pediatric nurses’ areas of worklife and work engagement are positively correlated and both need to be improved. It is indicated that improving the matching of pediatric nurses to their work can help stimulate their enthusiasm for work. At the same time, the increase of work engagement level will further promote the match between nurses and work.
