Objective To optimize the construction of clinical nursing teaching bases so as to strengthen the effective connections between clinical teaching in hospitals and school education. Methods With abundant teaching resources and adequate funding，we optimized the clinical nursing teaching bases from the following aspects：the organizational structure，management system，teaching staff，teaching practice model，and nursing teaching quality supervision system. Clinical instructors were trained through 'inviting in experts，sending them out for learning，and strengthening training'. The qualities of students were improved based on the 'three stages' and 'five characteristics' clinical nursing teaching and training model. Besides，we established a teaching quality supervision system of mutual evaluation among teaching departments，teachers，and students. Results The teaching quality was improved continuously. The structure of the teaching staff team was optimized. The comprehensive teaching abilities were increased. The satisfaction level of students with the teaching was increased year by year. Conclusion Optimizing the construction of clinical nursing teaching bases is an effective way to help with the hospital teaching reform and strengthen the close connection between clinical teaching and school education.
