Abstract:

Objective To develop a competency-based training program for teachers of life-and-death education courses in medical schools,so as to provide a reference for the construction of a qualified teaching workforce in life-and-death education in China. Methods Based on preliminary studies, constructivist learning theory was adopted as the theoretical framework. A preliminary training program framework for teachers of life-and-death education courses in medical schools was developed through a systematic literature review. The Delphi method was then used to conduct two rounds of expert consultations to screen, revise, and refine the program contents. Results The effective response rate of expert questionnaires in both Delphi rounds was 100%. The expert authority coefficient was 0.91. Kendall’s coefficient of concordance was 0.368 in the first round and 0.404 in the second round(both P<0.001),indicating a high level of expert agreement. The final competency-based training program for teachers of life-and-death education courses in medical schools was established, comprising three components:teacher admission criteria, training contents and formats, and assessment criteria. Conclusion This study preliminarily develops a competency-based training program for teachers of life-and-death education courses in medical schools, which may provide a reference for teacher training in related fields.
