Abstract:

Objective To search, evaluate and summarize the best evidence for exercise intervention in patients with liver cirrhosis and sarcopenia, and to provide reference for health care personnel. Methods To retrieve the literature on exercise intervention in patients with cirrhosis and sarcopenia,a computer-based search was undertaken in databases including UpToDate,BMJ,JBI,Cochrane Library,Web of Science,PubMed,Embase,CNKI,Wanfang Data,VIP,CBM and other databases. The search time limit was set from the establishment of the databases to May 2,2023. Results A total of 10 articles were included, including two guidelines, two expert consensus, and six systematic reviews. Finally,21 best evidences in six aspects including pre-exercise evaluation, exercise mode, exercise intensity, exercise frequency and time, exercise monitoring and quality control were summarized for patients with cirrhosis and sarcopenia. Conclusion This study summarized the best evidence for exercise intervention in patients with liver cirrhosis and sarcopenia. It is recommended that health care personnel should evaluate patients before exercise, select individualized exercise methods, intensity, frequency and time, and dynamically monitor the patients’ disease progression, muscle strength, quality, body function and other related indicators to ensure the safety and effectiveness of exercise intervention and improve the patients’ activity endurance as well as quality of life.
