Abstract:

Objective To explore the effect of delirium nursing ability training for pediatric ICU nurses. Methods Delirium nursing ability training, including theoretical training and in situ simulation training, was conducted from July to August 2021 for 38 nurses in the ICU of a tertiary children’s hospital in Shanghai. The scores of knowledge, attitude, and behavior of nurses before and after training were compared, and a questionnaire was used to understand nurses’ experiences and perceptions of in situ simulation training. Results After the training, the knowledge score of delirium among pediatric ICU nurses increased from(25.00±6.54) to(30.03±5.49),and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05),but there was no significant difference in attitude and behavior scores(P>0.05). Besides, nurses were satisfied with in situ simulation training. Conclusion The delirium nursing ability training for pediatric ICU nurses can effectively improve the knowledge level of delirium, but it has limited impact on delirium nursing attitude and behaviors. In the future, the training content can be further optimized, and a long-term continuous training mechanism can be established to improve the delirium nursing ability of pediatric ICU nurses.
