Abstract:

Objective To explore the influence of career decision making self-efficacy and professional identification on their career decision-making difficulty. Methods There were 239 nursing undergraduates from two universities in Chongqing who were selected in November 2019. The Career Decision-making Difficulties Questionnaire of Universities,Career Decision Making Self-Efficacy and the Professional Identification Questionnare were used to investigate the nursing undergraduates’ career decision difficulty, career decision making self-efficacy and professional identification. Results The average score of career decision-making difficulty was(3.08±0.57),career decision making self-efficacy was(3.19±0.58)and professional identification was(3.43±0.57). Career decision-making difficulty was negatively correlated with career decision making self-efficacy(r=-0.224,P<0.001) and professional identification(r=-0.331,P<0.001). The two independent variables could explain 10.8% of career decision-making difficulty. Conclusion The career decision-making difficulty of nursing undergraduates is in the middle level, which is negatively correlated with career selection efficacy and professional identity. Nursing educators can improve students’ professional recognition and career self-confidence by building a perfect curriculum system of nursing vocational education,so as to reduce the career decision-making difficulties of nursing undergraduates.
