Abstract: Objective To explore the effects of communication ability training for new community nurses. Methods A total of 46 newly recruited nurses from 8 community health service institutions in 2018 were selected. The training was lasted for 4 weeks and contents of the training included family visits，health care，hospice care and medication knowledge. Before and after the training，the SEGUE scale was used to evaluate the communication ability of nurses. Results The qualified rate increased from 39.13% to 93.48% after the training. Scores of all dimensions of the SEGUE scale after the training were higher than those before the training（P<0.05）. Conclusion The communication ability training is helpful to improve the communication ability of new community nurses.
