The clinical skill assessment applied in appraisal of new nurses

Abstract: Objective To explore the effects of clinical skill assessment applied in appraisal of new nurses.Methods The clinical ability of 113 new nurses recruited in 2017 was evaluated by the clinical skill assessments.Results The mean time of assessment was (32.45 ±4.34) min and the mean feedback time was (15.00±3.45) min.The total clinical competence of new nurses was (6.11±0.64). Conclusion The clinical skill assessment can be usedto assess the clinical ability of new nurses. It is suggested that ability training of “knowing hospital rules and regulations” and “integrating knowledge and practice” should be strengthened among new nurses.
