Abstract:

Objective To investigate the effects of standardized training for new nurses in Beijing from the perspectives of learners. Methods Data from 2 167 new nurses who completed standardized training from 2013 to 2018 in 10 hospitals in Beijing were collected through a self-designed questionnaire. Contents of the questionnaire mainly included satisfaction with the training, improvement of core competence and feedback on the training. Results The response rate was 100%. 77.7% respondents were very satisfied with the standardized training. The score of self-evaluation of core competence improvement was 200(185,200). However, there were statistically signi-ficant differences in core competence improvement scores in nurses with employment types, degree of interest in nursing, prospect of nursing, the pressure during training, and intention to resign during training (P<0.05). The main suggestion of 137 nurses made was “finalizing the departments where they will work as early as possible to increase the sense of belonging”. Conclusion New nurses are satisfied with the training for new nurses carried out by Beijing Hospital Management Center. Most nurses believe that their core competence has been greatly improved after the training. We suggest that the education managers should pay more attention to the training status of nurses with different employment types in the future, and timely assess their pressure to understand the interests and doubts of nurses, conduct career planning guidance regularly, and improve the training program for new nurses.
