Abstract:

Developing innovative personal capacity is a systematic and complex process. The Innovation and Creative Thinking course was designed to improve nursing students’ creativity by combining with Challenge Based Learning (CBL). CBL encourages students working as a team to explore problems independently and self-directly,and its learning activities are expanded from classroom to local community in order to solve a real-world problem in a creative way. Our research team firstly applied this new method in mainland China to foster the ability to think creatively among nursing students in 2015. Furthermore,we adopted various types of evaluation approaches to support the continuous quality improvement in the course. This paper summarized the entire development process, based on the perceived learning opportunities and experiences by students, together with their changes on minds, attitudes and emotions. Students’ creative thinking process was investigated, which would provide valuable references for curriculum reform and students’ development on creative thinking..
