The development of a midwifery practical skills system in practical curriculum of undergraduate midwifery education

Abstract:

Objective To develop a midwifery practical skills system in midwifery practical curriculum of undergraduate midwifery education. Methods The initial system was developed by literature review and then two rounds of Delphi consultation were conducted among 16 experts to modify the system. Results The authority coefficient of experts was 0.95,and the second round Kendall coordination coefficients was 0.54 for first-level indicators and 0.31 for second-level indicators. The midwifery practical skills system consisted of 6 domains (women health care,pregnancy health care,labor health care,postpartum health care,neonate health care,public health care) and 73 items in total. Conclusion Based on the midwifery core competency,the midwifery practical skills system for undergraduate midwifery education is scientific and reliable. The system can provide reference for practical curriculum development in undergraduate education of midwifery.
