Abstract: Objective  To investigate the level of specialized knowledge and skills in new pediatric nurses，and explore the methods and effects of training. Methods  The specialized knowledge and skills among 150 new pediatric nurses were assessed. Then，targeted training was provided aimed at 14 kinds of common diseases and 10 specialized skills. The training effects were evaluated by exams and questionnaires. Results  All new nurses passed the exams of knowledge and skills. Their satisfaction was 98.0% in the curriculum and contents of training，92.6% in the teachers of theoretical knowledge and 96.8% in the skills instructors. Conclusion  New pediatric nurses lack 14 kinds of pediatric diseases knowledge and 10 specialized skills. The training outcomes are satisfactory.
