The professional life quality and its influencing factors of hospice nurses in nursing facilities

Abstract:

Objective To investigate the professional life quality of hospice nurses in nursing facilities,and to analyze its influencing factors.Methods A total of 216 hospice nurses in 25 nursing facilities were investigated by questionnaires including general demographic information sheet,Professional Quality of Life Scale and the 10-item Connor-Davidon Resilieme Scale. Results The scores of sympathy satisfaction,burnout and secondary trauma were(35.81±6.09),(28.62±5.38)and(24.94±5.06) respectively. Nurses’ marriage status,receiving hospice training or not,implementing group psychological counseling or not,whether their work was recognized,and the psychological resilience were the influencing factors of sympathy satisfaction(R2=0.592,F=22.527,P<0.001). The influencing factors of secondary trauma included different highest educational background,marriage status,implementing group psychological counseling or not,heavy workload,and psychological resilience(R2=0.257,F=12.066,P<0.001). Marriage status,overwork and psychological resilience were the influencing factors of burnout(R2=0.272,F=8.545,P<0.001). Conclusion The quality of professional life of hospice nurses is low. Hospice nursing managers can improve the professional life quality of nurses by enhancing their psychological resilience,reducing their workload,culturing cooperative environment,and carrying out group psychological counselling.
