Abstract:

Objective To establish an evaluation index system for competence of diabetes liaison nurses in China. Methods The evaluation index was preliminary developed based on David McClelland competency model by using literature analysis. Delphi technique was used to consult 18 experts who have expertise in caring of diabetes patients for three rounds to determine the evaluation index system. Results The valid questionnaire rates in three rounds of expert consultation were 100%,88.9%,and 93.8% respectively. The average expert authority coefficients were 0.882,0.880,and 0.880,respectively. The competency evaluation indexes of diabetes liaison nurses contained 3 first-level indexes,10 secondary-level indexes, and 33 tertiary-level indexes. The Kendall’s W coefficient in the third consultation was 0.290(P<0.05). Conclusion The competency evaluation index system we developed is scientific. It can provide objective references for training, assessment and appointment of diabetes liaison nurses.
