The status and influencing factors of transition shock of newly recruited nurses in cancer hospitals

Abstract

Objective To investigate the current situation of the transition impact on new nurses in cancer hospitals,and to analyze the problems in the process of transition. Methods The Transition Shock of Newly Graduated Nurses Scale was used to investigate the transition impact on 530 new nurses who were recruited by snowball sampling. Results The overall score of transition impact of new nurses in cancer hospitals was(113.63±8.24),and scoring rate was 84.17%. The scoring rate range of four dimensions was from 72.03% to 96.23%. Age,educational background,work experience and acquaintance were the factors which influenced the transition of new graduate nurses in cancer hospitals. Conclusion The transition shock especially the score of psychological aspects of the new nurses in cancer hospitals is at a higher level. Managers should pay more attention to the phenomenon and interventions are needed to alleviate the shock.
