Objective  To investigate the risk factors and preventive measures of phlebitis in patients with preoperative indwelling needles. Methods  The risk factors of phlebitis were retrospectively analyzed based on the data of 57 cases with preoperative indwelling needles from January to June in 2013. Aimed at the risk factors，some preventive measures were carried out in aspects of selection of proper puncture site，the type of indwelling needles，fixation method and puncture techniques. Results  The incidence of phlebitis in patients with indwelling needles decreased from 2.8% to 0.2%（P<0.01）. Conclusion  Selection of proper type of indwelling needles，puncture site and standardized fixation method can effectively decrease the incidence of phlebitis in patients with preopera?鄄tive indwelling needles.
