Abstract

Objective To understand the current situation of psychological adaptation and family resilience of first stroke-episode patients’ caregivers and explore their correlation. Methods A total of 276 caregivers of patients with first stroke-episode stroke were selected as survey participants from June 2022 to January 2023 by convenience sampling. The general information questionnaire, the Chinese version of Psychological Adaptation Scale and the Shortened Chinese version of Family Resilience Assessment Scale were used to investigate. Results A total of 268 valid questionnaires were collected. The psychological adaptation score of caregivers of first-episode stroke patients was(47.46±7.38),and the family resilience score was(90.82±7.97). Pearson correlation analysis showed a positive correlation between psychological adaptation and family resilience among caregivers of patients with first-episode stroke(r=0.627,P<0.05). Conclusion The psychological adaptation of caregivers of first-episode stroke patients is at a moderate to lower level(compared to the median score of 60),and the family resilience is at a moderate level(compared to the median score of 80),and they are closely related. This study provides a new perspective for medical staffs to better understand the psychological adaptation of caregivers of first-episode stroke patients.
