The correlation between self-reflection and insight ability and empathy of undergraduate nursing students
Objective To investigate the status of self-reflection and insight ability and empathy ability among undergraduate nursing students，and to explore the correlation between them. Methods A total of 241 undergraduate nursing students in two universities of Fujian province were investigated using the Self-reflection and Insight Scale and the Jefferson Scale of Empathy for Nursing Student. Results The score of self-reflection and insight among participants was 78.00（72.00，85.00） and the score of empathy ability was 102.00（83.00，115.00）. The score of self-reflection and insight was positively correlated with empathy（r=0.521，P<0.01）. Conclusion Among nursing undergraduates，both of the self-reflection and insight ability and empathy ability are at a medium level. Students should be guided to enhance their reflective awareness，strengthen the insight ability and improve the self-reflection ability，so as to promote the empathy ability of undergraduate nursing students.
