The mediating effect of clinical belongingness among nursing interns on perceived social support and career decision-making self-efficacy
Objective To explore the mediating effect of clinical belongingness on the perceived social support and career decision-making self-efficacy. Methods This study employed a cross-sectional study design. From January to October 2021，a total of 632 nursing interns from four general hospitals in Jiangsu Province were selected by convenience sampling method. General data questionnaire，the Multidimentional Scale of Perceived Social Support，Belongingness Scale-Clinical Placement Experience，and Career Decision-making Self-efficacy Scale were used to investigate. Results Mediating effect analysis showed that clinical belongingness of nursing interns had a partial mediating effect on the relationship between perceived social support and career decision-making self-efficacy（0.166），accounting for 43.6% of the total effect. Conclusion Clinical belongingness of nursing interns plays a partially mediating role in the relationship between perceived social support and career decision-making self-efficacy. College，family and clinical medical staff can provide more emotional support，learning and work support for nursing interns to enhance their clinical belongingness，improve their career decision-making self-efficacy and promote the construction of nursing team.
