The current status and associated factors of work readiness in nursing graduates
Objective To identify the current status and associated factors of graduate nurses’ work readiness. Methods We recruited 628 nursing graduates by convenience sampling. A demographic questionnaire and the Chinese version of Work Readiness Scale for Graduate Nurses were utilized to collect data. Results The average work readiness score of graduated nurses was 262.20±44.97. Multiple linear regression analysis confirmed 6 significant associated factors，including gender，education background，campus learning atmosphere，student cadre experience，voluntary choice of nursing profession，and changes in nurses’ professional identity，explaining 20.0% of the total variance. Conclusion The work readiness of graduate nurses needs to be strengthened，especially in the dimension of personal work characteristics. Nursing educators and hospital managers should pay attention to these associated factors to cultivate and recruit graduate nurses who have potentials for better career development.
