Objective To evaluate the effect of psychological intervention on T lymphocyte functions in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC). Methods Totally 117 patients with NPC received five-session group psychological intervention. Patients were investigated using Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS) and Self-Rating Depression Scale (SDS) before and after intervention. Moreover, patients’ blood samplings were collected to measure T lymphocyte fu nctions before and after intervention. Results After the intervention, patients’ SAS score and SDS score were significantly lower than baseline(P<0.01). The percentages of CD3+,CD4+,CD56+ T lymphocyte were significantly higher than baseline(P<0.01),while the percentage of CD8+ of T lymphocyte was significantly lower than baseline(P<0.01). Conclusion Group psychological intervention can effectively relieve the anxiety and depression of patients with NPC, and improve the patients’ immunity.
