Objective To investigate the status of career planning among nursing students in clinical practice，so as to provide basis for career planning education. Methods Totally 228 nursing students in clinical practice were investigated with a self-designed questionnaire. Results The total score of career planning was（3.05±1.03）. Female students got higher score than male students（P<0.01），and undergraduate students got higher score than associate students（P<0.01）. Income（64.04%） and opportunities of personal development（49.56%） were the first two factors which affected occupation selection；competency（64.91%） and major（40.79%） were rated as the critical determinants of career planning. Conclusion The status of career planning among nursing students is not ideal. The career planning is better in female students and undergraduate students compared to male students and associate students，respectively.
