Design and preliminary application of a newborn PICC catheterization operation virtual simulation training assessment system

The Shengjing Hospital of China Medical University designed the“newborn PICC catheterization operation virtual simulation training assessment system”. The system created realistic neonatal PICC placement operation scenes by using virtual simulation technology,and fully presented the whole process of the newborn PICC catheterization operation. The system has advanced hands-on operation modes of “Learning Mode”,“Training Mode” and “Exam Mode” and an evaluation function with instant feedback. Preliminary application of the system was conducted among undergraduate nursing students. The cumulative online training time of 58 students was(76.34±29.12) min/person and 98% of the students rated the system as “satisfied” or “very satisfied”. This paper introduced the design,system construction,application process and preliminary application effects of the system. Besides,it also discussed the content selection and design,characteristics,limitations and measures to provide reference for the construction of virtual simulation experiment teaching project for undergraduate nursing students.
