Objective To establish the competency model for cardiovascular specialty nurses. Methods Related studies of the competency of specialty nurses were searched and summarized. Interviews were conducted among 5 cardiovascular experts,5 excellent nurses,and 5 general nurses in the cardiovascular department. A consultation questionnaire was prepared and 2 rounds of letter consultation was conducted among 20 experts. Results The effective response rate of the first round of questionnaire consultation was 95%. In the second round,the effective response rate was 100%. The established competency model consisted of 4 first-level indicators including professional knowledge,professional skills,relevant professional abilities,and professional traits,and 18 second-level indicators（12 of them are benchmark competency characteristics and 6 of them are identification competency characteristics）. The expert authority coefficient was 0.88. The coefficient of variation of primary index was 0~0.11 and that of secondary index was 0~0.17. Conclusion The competency model is reliable and it can distinguish the basic competency characteristics and identify the competency characteristics. It can provide scientific basis for the selection,training,assessment,and certification of cardiovascular nurses.
