The effects of case-based reasoning on nurse patient relationship of nursing interns

Abstract

Objective To explore the effects of case-based reasoning on nurse patient relationship of nursing interns. Methods The students were randomly divided into the experimental group and the control group. Students in the experimental group received the case-based reasoning teaching. The instructors taught the students to use the case sources to solve the problems regarding the interpersonal relationship issues between the nursing students and patients during the clinical placement. Students in the control group could ask help from families,friends or others to solve the interpersonal relationship issues between patients and nursing students. The self-made scale of the Interpersonal Communication Abilities of Nursing Interns was used. Results After the intervention,students' dimensional scores of the Interpersonal Communication Abilities of Nursing Interns（except for affinity dimension）and total scores in the experimental group were higher than those in the control group（P<0.05）. Conclusion The case-based reasoning can help to improve the interpersonal communication abilities of nursing interns,which can be widely used in college nursing interpersonal communication and nursing etiquette courses,and pre-job training for nurses.
