The mediating effect of mindfulness level on the relationship between death anxiety and hospice care attitude among nursing interns
Objective To explore the mediating effect of mindfulness level between death anxiety and hospice care attitude. Methods A total of 331 nursing interns from a tertiary hospital in Changsha were investigated with Templer’s Death Anxiety Scale,Mindful Attention Awareness Scale and Frommelt Attitudes Toward Care of the Dying Scale. The Process of SPSS were used to test the mediating effect of mindfulness level on the relationship between death anxiety and hospice care attitude among nursing interns. Results The score of death anxiety was negatively correlated with hospice care attitude（ β=-0.523,P<0.001）. The negative correlation were still significantly when added a mediator of mindfulness level in death anxiety and hospice care attitude（ β=-0.407,P=0.001）,and the intermediary effect（-0.116）accounts for 22.18% of the total effects（-0.523）. Conclusion The mindfulness level of nursing intern plays an intermediary role between death anxiety and hospice care attitude,which can provide a new reference for improving hospice care attitude of nursing students.
