Objective To explore the design and application of a virtual simulation experiment teaching project in Labor and Delivery Nursing. Methods Based on the teaching contents and 3D virtual reality technology,a virtual simulation training system for childbirth care was developed with 3 sessions（care and management of the first,second and third stages of labor）. The virtual simulation training system was applied in Obstetrics and Midwifery Nursing among 121 undergraduate nursing students. Results The average length of online study was 1.39 hours. Students showed high acceptanceof the project with 94.24% in favor or being neutral of the virtual simulation system and 88.84% in favor or being neutral of the teaching model. Conclusion The project provides a reference for the development of virtual simulation experiment teaching in nursing education in the future.
