Abstract:

Objective To explore the conceptual connotation of multidimensional frailty. Methods Relevant literature on multidimensional frailty was systematically retrieved from Web of Science,PubMed,CNKI,Wanfang,VIP,and China Biomedical Literature Database, with the search period spanning from database inception to March 2025. The Walker and Avant concept analysis method was applied. Results A total of 46 articles were included. Multidimensional frailty comprises three defining attributes:cross-dimensional interactions, dynamic transitions, and trajectory heterogeneity. Pre-factors include general demographic factors, disease and medication history, daily behavioral patterns, and psychological factors. Consequences encompass increased risk of dependence in activities of daily living, dementia, and complications. Conclusion Multidimensional frailty is a complex dynamic construct with diverse causes and severe consequences. Additionally, there are relatively few multidimensional frailty assessment tools that align with the cultural context of China. This study may provide certain references for the theoretical deepening and intervention practice related to multidimensional frailty.
