Development of a nursing training program of breast cancer-related lymphedema for nurses

Abstract:

Objective The aim of this study is to develop a nursing training program of breast cancer-related lymphedema for oncology nurses,and provide guidance for improving lymphedema care competence of clinical nurses. Methods Based on behavioral objectives theory,literature analysis and semi-structured interview were conducted for initially formulation of the draft of nurse training program of lymphedema. After that,Delphi technique was adopted for the revision of the training program from June 2022 to September 2022. Results A two-round experts consultation was undertaken involving 25 experts came from seven provinces. The positive coefficients of experts were 100% and 96%(24/25),and the authoritative coefficient of experts were 0.944 and 0.933,respectively. The final training system consisted of training aims and training contents. The training aims included three first-level items,16 second-level items,and the training contents included five first-level items,10 second-level items and 26 third-level items. Conclusion The development of nursing training program of BCRL is scientific and reliable,meets the demand of nurses in caring for patients with breast cancer-related lymphedema and provide guidance for the training of nurses in cancer hospitals.
