Abstract: Objective To investigate the effects of modified spreading moxibustion in patients with ulcerative colitis of spleen-kidney Yang deficiency. Methods From June 2017 to December 2017,110 patients with ulcerative colitis of spleen-kidney Yang deficiency type admitted to the Hepatobiliary Spleen-stomach Department of our hos-pital were recruited. These patients were divided into the control group and the interventional group with 55 cases in each group. Patients in the control group received routine care, and patients in the interventional group received modified spreading moxibustion together with the routine care. Before and one month after the intervention, the patients in the two groups were evaluated by the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) symptom score and the Mayoscore. Results After the intervention, the TCM symptom score and the Mayo score of patients in the intervention group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion Modified spreading moxibus-tion can relieve the clinical symptoms and improve the quality of life of patients with ulcerative colitis of spleen-kidney Yang deficiency.
