Development and implementation of a training program for new nurses in Qinghai Province #br#

Abstract: Objective To design a training program for new nurses in Qinghai Province and to examine the effects of the program on basic competence and core competence of new nurses. Methods A total of 130 new nurses were recruited in August 2016 from Qinghai Provincial People’s Hospital,Xining First People’s Hospital,and Xining Second People’s Hospital. For this program,we formed an expert team,developed the training plans,and choose the instruc-tors. The new nurses had been trained for two years. Results The scores of basic ability,core competence and each dimensional ability were statistically different before and after the training (P<0.05). The scores of paper examination and skill tests were improved compared with those before the training (P<0.05). Conclusion The new nurse training program in Qinghai Province can improve the basic ability and core competence of the new nurses.
