The effects of an eye movement training on stepping accuracy in older people/

Objective To explore the effects of eye movement training on stepping accuracy in older people. Methods A total of 26 participants received the training twice a week with 20~30 minutes each time and the training lasted for 4 weeks. Before and after the intervention, the Multitarget stepping task(MTST) was used to measure the stepping accuracy of the older people. Results The performance of the participants in MTST was improved after the intervention. The performance time(Z=3.022,P=0.003)and number of steps(Z=2.865,P=0.004)were reduced. The numbers of avoidance failures(Z=3.700,P<0.001) and stepping failures(Z=2.673,P=0.008)decreased. Conclusion Eye movement training can improve the stepping accuracy of older people.
