Abstract:

Objective To analyze and elaborate the conceptual connotation of physical resilience in older adults, providing a reference for further research and the development of intervention strategies to enhance physical resilience in this population. Methods A systematic searching was conducted in databases for literature related to physical resilience in older adults including CNKI,Wanfang,VIP,SinoMed,PubMed,Web of Science,Cochrane Library,CINAHL,and Embase. Walker and Avant’s concept analysis method was employed to define and analyze the concept. Results A total of 48 articles were included. Physical resilience in older adults encompassed three core attributes:physiological reserve consumption, active coping with stressors, and dynamic recovery. Antecedent factors included individual factors,disease-related factors, psychological factors, and social factors. Consequences involved improved quality of life, enhanced physical recovery, maintained mental health, and promotion of successful aging. Applicable assessment tools included the Physical Resilience Scale and the Physical Resilience Instrument for Older Adults. Conclusion Physical resilience in older adults is a multidimensional and complex dynamic construction with diverse antecedents and outcomes. Accessable assessment tools remain limited. Future efforts should focus on developing scientific measurement instruments and implementing targeted strategies to optimize physical resilience in older adults, thereby advancing successful aging.
