Design and practice of ideological and political teaching method of Pediatric Nursing course

Abstract: Objective To design and implement an integrated ideological and political teaching method of Pediatric Nursing courses,and evaluate its effect. Methods An "online + offline,in-class + extracurricular" teaching method was designed for ideological and political teaching scheme in Pediatric Nursing course. Then the teaching methods was carried out among 196 undergraduate nursing students of grade 2020,and 16 students and 6 teachers (including clinical teaching) were randomly selected for interviews after class. Results Two themes were extracted from the interviews with students,namely benefits,deficiency and expectation of curriculum ideology and politics. Another two themes were extracted from the interviews with teachers,including enhancement of teachers’ consciousness and teaching ability of curriculum ideological and political education,and the reflection and improvement of curriculum ideological and political teaching. Conclusion The ideological and political teaching of Pediatric Nursing course has been proved to have good teaching effect,which is helpful to improve the cultivation of students’ comprehensive quality,and can improve teachers’ teaching ability. In the future,further exploration of the ideological and political elements of the curriculum,the integration methods,teaching methods,and scientific student assessment methods are necessary.
