Design and practice of ideological and politics of Health Assessment course

Abstract:

Objective To develop and explore practical effect of an ideological and political teaching program in the course of Health Assessment among nursing undergraduates. Methods The ideological education teaching practice in Health Assessment course was carried out among 28 second-year nursing students. The design of Health Assessment course was developed according to the process of setting up the clear objectives,designing ideological and political elements,and constructing ideological and political case database. Professional courses and ideological and political content were organically integrated and implemented through edification teaching method,case heuristic teaching method,situational simulation teaching method,experiential teaching method,and group discussion method. Experts and students evaluation were used to assess the teaching effect. Results For experts,eight of the ten experts evaluated the ideological and political teaching program as “excellent”. Among the 28 students,more than 20 students rated “excellent” for the ideological and political teaching program. According to the results of open question, students generally believed that the ideological and political content was helpful to improve their professional identity. Conclusion The ideological and political teaching of the Health Assessment course under the concept of progressive moral education has achieved positive results. The content and form have been recognized by the students,which has promoted the coordinated development of professional knowledge and ideological and political education.
