Abstract: Objective To identify the promoting and hindering factors of enteral feeding in patients with head and neck cancer receiving radiotherapy, and provide evidence for increasing the rate of enteral feeding. Methods We used purposive sampling to select patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers who were relevant to the study objectives for semi-structured interviews. Directed content analysis was used, combined with the Health Belief Model,to extract data. Results Twenty participates included in the study. Three promoting factors(perception of severe symptoms in the future, knowledge of the benefits of enteral feeding, and receiving prompting factors) and four hindering factors(perception of low threat, perception of barriers, lack of self-efficacy,and lack of relevant knowledge) were identified. Conclusion To increase patients’ willingness to accept enteral feeding,it is necessary to establish their correct health beliefs, strengthen relevant knowledge training, and enhance their self-efficacy.
