Abstract:

Objective To understand the status of professional identity and retention intention of clinical nurses born in the 90s and to know the correlation between them. Methods Convenience sampling was used to recruit 258 nurses from five hospitals in Qingdao and the nurses were investigated with Nurse Occupational Approval Rating Scale and Retention Intention Scale. Results The mean scores of occupational identity and retention intention were(3.30±0.42) and(3.46±0.53) respectively. Pearson correlation analysis showed that occupational identify was positively correlated with retention intention(r=0.474,P<0.01). Conclusion The occupational identity has a positive predictive effect on retention intention of nurses born in 90s. Nursing managers should develop relevant intervention strategies to enhance nurses’ willingness to stay in the position and to stabilize the nurses team.
