Abstract:

Objective To translate the scale of Preparedness Assessment for the Transition Home after Stroke (PATH-s) into Chinese, and to examine its reliability and validity. Methods According to the Brislin translation model,PATH-s was translated into Chinese. A total of eight experts were invited to assess the content validity, and 30 family caregivers of stroke patients were selected for the preliminary test. After that, convenience sampling was employed to recruit 140 participants for the test of its reliability and validity. Results The Chinese PATH-s instrument consisted of eight factors and 25 items. The content validity of the total questionnaire(S-CVI) was 0.96,and ranged from 0.90 to 1.00 for each item(I-CVI). The Caregiver Preparedness Scale and Chinese version of the PATH-s was significantly positive related(r=0.760). According to the results of exploratory factor analysis, the cumulative variance contribution rate of the eight dimensions reached 73.568%. The overall Cronbach’s α of the scale was 0.846. Conclusion The Chinese version of PATH-s owns satisfied reliability and validity and could be deemed as a scientific and reliable instrument that can be used to evaluate the transition preparation of caregivers for stroke patients.
