Abstract:

Objective To explore the current status of social isolation in elderly diabetic patients and its influencing factors. Methods From September 2020 to October 2021，358 elderly diabetic patients admitted to the inpatient department of a tertiary third-grade A general hospital in Guangzhou were selected as the research objects using convenience sampling，and they were investigated using general information questionnaire，General Alienation Scale，General Self-Efficacy Scale and Family APGAR Index. Results The social isolation score of elderly diabetic patients was（41.27±6.60）. The results of multiple linear regression analysis showed that gender，place of residence，duration of diabetes，total score of self-efficacy，and total score of family care entered the regression equation，which could predict 48.6% of total variation. Conclusion The social isolation of elderly diabetic patients is at a moderately high level；medical staffs should pay attention to male patients，rural patients and patients with shorter duration of diabetes，and take measures to improve patients’ self-efficacy and family care，so as to reduce the level of social isolation of patients.
